Nicholas O’Grady has served as Chief Executive Officer at NOG since January 2020 and was named to its Board of Directors in 2024. Mr. O’Grady joined the company in June 2018, previously serving as Chief Financial Officer. He also held the title of President from September 2019 until his promotion to CEO. Mr. O’Grady leads the team in all aspects of the business, including acquisitions, investments, financial management and business strategy. Over his tenure, the company has executed acquisitions and related financings over 6 billion dollars.
Prior to joining NOG, Mr. O’Grady had nearly two decades of energy-related finance experience, both as an investment banker and as a principal investor. Mr. O’Grady began his career in the Natural Resources investment banking group at Bank of America. Later, moving to the asset management business, he worked at firms such as Highbridge Capital Management. Immediately prior to joining the company, Mr. O’Grady worked at Hudson Bay Capital Management, where he focused on energy-related equities, public credit, and private and direct investments.
Since 2025, Mr. O’Grady has served on the Board of Directors of the American Exploration & Production Council, or AXPC, as the only Non-Operating Upstream E&P CEO on the Council.
In 2026, Mr. O’Grady was named a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Heartland award, which recognizes business leaders across Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska for exceptional ingenuity and corporate growth. He is also active in the community through volunteer youth coaching and service on several local nonprofit committees.
Mr. O’Grady holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Economics from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.
